The Michigan NextGen AI Council is driving forward a new era of ethical, impact-driven AI innovation. We conduct research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community-centered approaches to solving some of the most pressing challenges in AI deployment and development. By connecting students, professionals, and academic leaders, we foster an ecosystem where the next generation can shape not only how AI is used—but why, where, and for whom it’s created.

NextGen AI Speaker Series
A monthly speaker and research series connecting students with experts across industry, academia, and government to explore real-world applications of AI. Participants earn a certificate and submit a final reflection paper.

NextGen AI Research Collective
A collaborative research and publishing initiative that empowers students to explore emerging AI trends. Participants form small research teams, receive mentorship from experts, and publish insights through policy briefs, op-eds, or white-papers distributed to lawmakers, educators, and the public.

NextGen AI Incubator
An initiative supporting student-led projects that use AI to solve public challenges—like improving local services, increasing government transparency, or addressing health equities. Selected teams receive mentorship, workshops, and develop a prototype or research-based solution that serves the public good.
